⋆°.ଳ⋆.ೃ࿔*:⋆ Story Behind the Object ⋆°.ଳ⋆.ೃ࿔*:⋆
I picked up this object unpainted at an antique mall. At first, it looked like it was made of paper but it had an iridescent glass-like feel. After a quick search, I learned it’s a material known as Capiz Shell, which comes from the windowpane oyster, a mollusk harvested in the Philippines. The shells have been used for thousands of years as a substitute for glass and more recently have been used in lampshades, chandeliers, and decorative items.
